Just completed mine (entire UCA) yesterday afternoon! I had replaced the drivers side a couple weeks ago but not enough time to get the passenger side until now. The drivers side ball joint boot was torn and passenger side was just ......... I assume the same age so I did both!

The bolt that goes through the fender well beneath the battery was a little more challenging however not that bad (for mine anyway). I know others here have had nightmare experiences. One thing I did was place the bolt back through from the front side instead of from behind. It made putting the nut back on a bunch easier than trying to put it back the way it was originally.

Seems like the car drives evn better than it already did!

And your done!
Why not just unbolt the sway bar, and work the UCA on a workbench.....and renew the sway bar bushings when you go back together??? Sway Bar Bushings are really cheap as I remember....

You sir are cantankerous! That's $10 per pair Febi. $20 total and some change after tax from my local autoparts guy. I would post his number, but that would do Phil a disservice.

So here is what Phil can offer.

http://catalog.peachparts.com/item.wws?sku=W0133-1637388&itempk=87498&mfr=Febi&weight=0.25

So it is over 10 bucks but Very close.

Here is the part number. 1163336314

Do a search on the internet using the part number. There is an outfit that sells Meyle for 8 bucks per pair.

The bushings were in great shape. So we opted not to touch them. Yes they are cheap, but it was no big deal to do it that way otherwise.

Just one problem. As far as I can tell, the unit of issue on that part is normally "each," not "pair." See the Meyle website. I will concede that some of the "multiple view" pictures on some websites make it look like a pair, but then the fine print states "4 per car required."

All I can say is that my local parts guy provided a pair for each package and that the total was around 20 bucks.

But I know the sway bar bushings are sold at an individual price for under 2 bucks each, but I can see it not that critical to replace them as a pair.

I will have to add that in looking at the site it is unclear. So in ordering online I would talk to someone first to make sure your getting a pair.

X3. Took about 1.5 hours, not difficult work at all. Did UCA;s and bushings. Car still has a bad case of camber misadjustment. The tops of the wheels are out further than the bottoms.

Yes. If previous alignments "adjusted" for the worn or sagging bushings, replacing those components will not restore proper alignment.

Because I just had them and LBJ's done 10k ago. It may have been like that since I got it, I dont' really know. I've only had it for about 40k now. It's going in for an alignment pretty soon, so maybe they can readjust it back to spec.

Assuming we are talking about the LCA bearing where the LCA meets the frame, just by looking at them. If the rubber is rotted.....

Also a good aligner will you know when that eccentric bolt has no more room for adjustment.
