you can crack the radiator if you over-torque with gorilla-like strength (like me)
- tempus modus is a good rule of thumb...

Sounds suspect, ...
When I was a Mercedes supplier/Engineer, I wouldn't have even considered asking Mercedes Engineering/Management if I could design a part that would only last 6-10years unless it were a consumable part like the belts. At that time ('80s & '90s) the coolant hoses weren't even considered a sheduled maintenance item, just inspect and replace if needed. I'm pretty sure that 20years is getting beyond the point of casual inspection, but not 6years. Quote:
