Not sure, I just had a half shaft replaced because a boot was starting to fail.

Search "Astoria FB3001".

Actually Astoria FB3000. We have to trim the FB3001's. You can either get the boot on with a Flexx gun or with a lubed funnel.
Work that search function and I bet you can even find pics...... ![]()

Yes, rent the gun if you can...the funnel works, it just takes some effort.

Yeah my cv joints are fine, but the rubber has de-laminated (cracked and now is leaking oil)

So were mine, but I didn't know of a quick/easy way to just replace the boots so I just had the half-shaft replaced.

There are probably ways of just replacing the boot, but I didn't want to mess with it. |

Yes but...
This seems to me it would be a fairly straightforward repair...Isn't this repair decently common on w123's and w126's?

The Flexx gun is the only intelligent way to replace a boot. Very thick rubber on the replacement units.
Yes the funnel works too ... but about as much fun as putting a condom on a less than appreciative elephant.

Buy the Cone made by Astoria or buy and Astro Pneumatic Cone and enlarge the ID as I did and use only the Cone part. I don't advise using the Tongs that are in the picture as I ripped a Boot with the Tongs. I did not rip any Boots when I used the Cone by itself.
