I have had it happen and seen it happen on other vehicles. On the ones I have experience with vibration caused the clamp to cut through the Tubing.
But, the poster said it is rusted so that could also be a cause.
I bought one a couple of years ago from the dealer, and they had to order it. I believe they are getting hard to find now. The hack is to cut out the leaking section and install a section of hose with clamps. That works, I ran mine like that for a couple of weeks until I got the part. Some folks have left that "repair" in place. I think the price was under $200 for one side.

Thanks again x3.

Any suggestion on the proper size of hose to use as a temporary replacement? Or in the alternative, what should I use to measure the diameter?

Thanks guys. Funny how I've owned this car for 3 days and I have managed to need a hard to find, special order part

As I recall, I just used a tubing cutter to take out a section about 2 inches long and brought it to a parts store to find the appropriate size fuel line and clamps. I don't remember the size. Then I slipped the hose over the section and clamped it in place.

It seems to be very low pressure, even when mine was cracked it was only dripping.

I would use Oil Cooler Hose on it.
On a Gas Car I tried using Fuel Hose as a Transmission Cooler Hose and I did not make it a full month and it was leaking.
It was not the pressure it was the heat and the fact the it was not fuel but ATF iside of the hose.
I believe some members have used Compression type couplings to repair their tubing.

Quick update. I finally goy underneath the car. If you look at the red arrow you can see a metal bracket that holds the transmisison cooler line up against the oil pan. Well from what I gather (by looking at the drivers side) there should be a rubber gasket of sorts that is inbetween the metal bracket and metal line..... There material was so badly worn that it was metal on metal and that is why I sprung a leak as best as I can tell.

Also the only tranny cooler hose from auto zone or pepboys is 3/8s. I'm pretty sure that is too small. So I'm probably going to just purchase the darn line from Phil for $135 and be done with this.

Thanks for helping me thru this.

I have the lower tranmission cooler line. It will not be hard to install, except for draining the tranny and its freezing out.

Anyone have the tourque specs handy for the side that goes into the tranny and the other side?

Thanks.

My 300TD leaked in this exact spot. Replaced it with hose as described; years later still no problems with it! Cheap too.
