fuel pump timing lost because ccw crankshaft rotation
I was making an overhaul replacing piston rings and cylinder head job on my 77 240D (616.912 engine) and I had the timing chain hanging out in tension temporarily tied with a wire ,but wrongly turned the crankshaft ccw jumping out few links at cranshaft chain sprocket and loosing the fuel pump time. Can somebody give me an idea how can I identify the links that jumped back in order to fixed it up . (At this time I have mounted back Pistons, head, camshaft, adjusted valves ,camshaft sprocket, chain tension , etc ....) (timing marks at camshaft sprocket match with the TDC mark and pointer). I'm using basic tools . Thanks , Victor Hugo .

Diesel Injection Timing
Hugo,
This is not really the best place to post technical questions. ------- If you are absolutely certain that a link has jumped a tooth or so, and that the chain has been drawn tight so that ALL slack has been removed before installing the camshaft gear, then you will want to remove pump and reinstall it properly. In the top right corner of the page there is a tab that says "Resources". then choose "DIY Links" then go to the forum labeled "DIY Links by category" scroll all the way down to the bottom "Diesel Injection", you will find a bunch of good stuff there. Post questions after doing a little reading. I can email you a file for a slightly different engine, but it should give you a good idea of what goes on. |
