Vacuum Pump Rebuild - Early Model (2 valve)

Hi,
I rebuilt the pump and now I'm having doubts.
Do both check valves go in the same way? I put the o-rings in first, then the valves and then the springs. I just can't remember if both valves went in with the flat side up or if one was with the flat side up and the other with the flat side down.
Also, what is the tube of blue stuff for? I'm assuming to lube the two washer-like things that sandwich the diaphragm. I found it later but can always re-do it.
(Should have started this project in the morning...)
Any help would be much appreciated as I need to get the pump back on asap.
Thanks!
Mona

Dont remember which way the check valves go, but if you didn't use the 'blue stuff" on the threads of the little center bolt, it would be a good idea to pull the VP again. The blue stuff is a thread locking past that is important here as that little bolt must not be tightened too much (dont ask how I know) and the thread lock stuff is needed particularly in this job. I cant tell you the torque value of that bolt but its not much thats why the 'blue stuff"

Thanks for the help! Definitely missed this thread when I was searching half asleep last night. Thankfully, the pump has not been put back on since I'm missing the (pump to engine) rubber gasket so it will give me some time to get some more loctite and switch the diaphragm since I put it in convex side facing the engine.
Thanks again!
Mona
