These have been an ongoing PITA for me on Mutt the Race Truck. The issue has been that I need a different flange to make up to my race-only thru-the-fender exhaust pipe and it's almost impossible to weld to those as they're as thin as tissue paper (well, not quite but you catch my drift). There's a guy in town who does welding for me when it's beyond my skill level and we has been able to make something work but 'tain't easy. I wish I could find a good aftermarket supplier so we could at lest start with a fresh one. TIG welding SS that is impregnated with crud isn't easy.

Is that clamped on BEFORE the down pipe (braided SS line)?

I bet you could find it at McMaster-Carr.

Does anyone know what part # is for #77 in this diagram? I had to cut mine out because the bolt was rusted out and stuck, and I cannot find the part number or a generic replacement. I tried ordering a generic clamp but the inner clamping section was too wide and it wouldn't work.

Does anyone know the part number or a suitable clamp to replace it?

What is the large part below the turbo called? It looks the size of a football and what does it do? I think mine is leaking exaust out of it, I have no boost in my turbo, trying to find the problem. i think it's an exaust leak some where there. Also does taking the resognator back by the muffler affest the turbo? thanks guys!

Mine broke also. Had a nice big crack in it on the 87 D. At first I just loosened the clamps for it, and then welded the crack shut as I rotated it. Held pretty good. looked like crap.

I could not find the part after searching so I grabbed the used one off the 87 TD I snagged the head from Saturday.

Be sure you measure the down flex pipe length because there is more than one length... A number of years ago when W. Hunter and I were first starting on my 300D we thought that we'd ordered the correct pipe. It turned out that my car is kind of weird (thus the name "Hen's tooth") in that it is a 1985 300D 49 state car with California stuff on it (vacuum system) and the down pipe dimension we found out would have actually been listed for a 1984 49 state vehicle. (The car does not have the Calif trap ox or air cleaner.) We had to send back what was supposed to be the correct 1985 down flex pipe for the 1984 pipe... Go figure... but nothing on this car has been easy... It was built on Halloween day in 1984!
