Beware of the car pulling into the parking spot in front of you...

They just might back in to you without looking.

This happened to me yesterday. I waited for the Ford Expedition to pull in to a parking space in front of me at work yesterday morning. They were halfway in the spot or more when I decided to pass them. Although there was plenty of room to make a wide turn into the spot to pull in straight, she decided to back up and straighten herself out. Without looking behind her for pedestrians or vehicles, she backed up anyway and hit my driver side rear door.

It looks like my deductible will be waived as she was more than 50% at fault and I can get this fixed at no cost.

Good cop / Bad cop

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that I NEVER assume what some soccer mom in a Ford Excavator is going to do.

They think with that big hefty toddler tank wrapped around them, they are invincible.

Sure, she was at fault, but why risk it? She could have punched it and you'd be in a little more hurt.

Sounds like both drivers need a basic course in driving and then a defensive driving course. Defensive driving reduces incident rates by a large margin. Thanks

Parking my TD in a crowded lot makes me as nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs. Walmart is particularly bad. Over a year and a half, I've been hit twice by doors opening against my car. One time was so hard it not only bent the trim strip, but put a pretty good crimp in the door.

Now I park way out by myself.

I just don't go to Wally World. I have my CHL and I don't feel safe there.

Agreed, been doing that for decades regardless of what car I'm in. It's become a habit.

My wife got hit yesterday by a soccer mom in one of those big SUVs- in a parking lot. The soccer mom was at a STOP sign in the lot, going out; the wife was stopped a good distance behind her, and then bam! The soccer mom decides to back up to get into a parking spot; of course on a cell phone, doesn't care to look behind her, hits my wife, and has the gall to ask "oh, where did you come from??" Ugh.. uGh...

We all know MOST fender bender happens in the parking lots. So what's new.

Hope you have it square way quickly. Just take the money and push the panel back out, if possible. It happens to me once. The other party did not want to go thru insurance and suggested to pay me. I said around $200 and she paid IMMEDIATELY. I pushed the door panel back out and that was it.

Right in front of me at Home Depot this couple of knucklehead humans tried to put a huge box (dehumidifier, I think) into their car that was parked too close to mine. They banged their door into my 240 like 5 times trying to fit this round peg into their square hole. I approached and REPROACHED. I said "Why on EARTH wouldn't you back your car out before trying that? How can you possibly think it's okay to put THESE dings and scratches on my beloved OLD, SHINY car? What's wrong with you?" I ended up getting them to cough up $40 for the time I knew it would take me to fix it... Some people's children, huh?

Maybe you should invest in a bullet-proof vest to go along with your S & W!!!

The way my luck runs, I would get caught in the crossfire when two CHL holders get in a gunfight following a door ding incident!!!

Heh.

If two CHL holders get into a gunfight over a door ding... then they should just finish each other off and we'll all be in better shape.

ditto on the Wally World situation. I spoke with a wally world
door greeter recently and he told me they experience 5 -6 shoplifting
incidents DAILY. and, should you happen to experience loss to property
or life while on Wally World's property, check out their 'company policy' concerning their responsibilities and YOUR responsibilities. they have
well covered themselves on the legal side of things.
