I was a ham, got my tech. license looooong ago, could pretty much run any transmission eqipment on earth with a tech license back then. Can you still?
No ham equipment here, just the occasional bout with a CB on steroids when I need traffic info from the truckers.

my dad tried teaching me morse code. never got the bug. stayed in electronics, though. did a stretch in the navy, got out and BS'd in electrical engineering. Now I work for the Navy on Aegis missile ships as an engineer in computer and display systems.
sorry for hijacking the thread. Somebody doing something with a thingamajig IIRC.

Navy and electronics, I'm impressed. The things that we consider simple on land, without all of the noise and corrosion from dissimilar metals in salt-air, ... a considerable education over a normal EE.
