Mercedes 300TD SLS issues and 4spd conversion
Greetings. I am a newbie to this forum but am in over my head. I am a diehard 300D-SD fan and recently purchased a TD from down south with a 240D manual conversion. Very appealing however it has me deep in my wallet trying to make it functional. Currently the SLS system is incredibly firm when operating making it uncomfortable and likely dangerous. No leakage however it reaches level when the engine is off. Reviewing threads it sounds like an accumulator replacement might make it functional however putting in sedan shocks and related parts might be an easier fix. Thoughts from the wise souls on this forum...as well, I recently replaced the clutch on the converted 240d tranny and the bugger will squel interminently when engaging. Anyone encountered issues with a 240-300 auto to manual conversion. Gratitude to those that respond.

My experience,87 300TD, say that if your ride is really, really bouncy then yes changing the accumulators will remedy that. Assuming all other parts res, pump, lines, struts and valve are working/no leaks. I can tell you the 124 is a PITA to do bc of little to no room to work with, but apparently the 123 accumulator is easier to get to and RnR. There are quite a few threads here on both 124 and 123 RnR accumulators.
