Idle adjustment threads on IP

Good Evening,

I just like a few more things to do & I will have my IP back in (I had to put an o ring in, the old one broke when I took it out it was so brittle). Any way, when I was taking the IP out I removed the idle vac (round thing at the top back of IP) to clear the oil filter canister. I now know I didn't have to do that. It took me for ever to get it off - it seem like I was getting no where turning it. I am try to put it back on, but I just can't get the threads to take hold so I can screw it in. I've tried turning it in both directions. I'm afraid I might get some metal fragments from the aluminum. How would I get this started so I can screw it in - is there a technique? I've been working on this since Sunday night. Thanks for your help.
