You have no circulation of coolant ... check the pump.

I keep thinking its the pump too. Was told that it should be leaking if its on the way out. Going to pull that off as well and have a look. Yah the rad was 350 plus 100 for overnight shipping, plus 70 to install and taxes.... I always do my own work and find the cheepest part. It killed me to do it but felt I had no choice. My old SD never asked for more then a little oil now and then.... Should have got an older TD

It is sort of sounding like a flow issue, perhaps being the water pump. To check the Main fan clutch do this:

The fan clutch will spin free during idle and below 85 degree. At this point you should be able to take a rolled up newspaper and stop it. After 85 degree, the clutch will begin to engage and instead of it free spinning with the turning of engine, it will engage and you will not be able to stop it.

I am actually having the same issue with my 190E 2.3...and I am mostly convinced that it is the water pump.

Won't leak if the impeller is broke or the shaft is broke.... Usually they leak when the seals/bearings go bad but if that happens there would still be flow.

Most likely yes.... I had a similar problem on my SD and it was due to no flow... In my case it was both the radiator and the pump.... the impeller had dissintigrated (broke up) to nothing and clogged my radiator.

Removing water pump will be much easier with the radiator out. I broke a bolt off when I did mine. It broke off flush and I couldn't get it out so I used some gasket sealer with regular gasket and it has never given me a problem. I think you need to do this with the engine cool, is that correct?

Water pump should be $100 or less. And after this you should be good to go with your cooling system for a while. I just wanted to make sure your fans clutch is working as it should aside from the obvious "no flow" problem.

Im sorry but this needs to be said !

5 / 6 people took the time to offer POSITIVE suggestions that you choose to
totally ignore.

Net result is : your out $540 and the car still doesnt work because you refuse to diagnose the issue.

Next of course will be ' car for sale, has slight heating issue'

My last volvo was like that. PO had put over $700 in OEM Volvo parts under the hood. The issue was a $.25 from a JY check valve right off the gas tank.
I was happy.

Your problem is probably the battery location.
Have you tried relocating it to the trunk yet ???
That another very, very seldom discussed solution.

He bought a radiator...give him a break. He is stuck somewhere with his family and thought he had a fix and did what he thought necessary. Thusfar he has been very responsive about the whole thing. Yes, he made a misdiagnosis, I suppose you never have?

Now you are heading in the right direction Targa, press on!

I really did not want to buy that rad. I had to make a quick decision yesterday at 4pm... Shop said they could have it for tomorrow, but was going to cost me. could have found a cheaper one, but would have to wait for it. I trusted that the Mercedes shop was going to get me on the road. But they where guessing. I wanted to die when I saw 115c again, and that I pissed away that cash. I'm not a rich guy. Would rather spend that cash on my little girl....

I cant get the fan off. Got a 8mm allen but cant keep the pulley from spinning.

A 2nd allen would help as would a 2x4 wedged into the block between the pulley and the block. Just be cautious to not bend the pulley.
