ick. yeah, equal pressures with the compressor running is not good. are you sure it is running?

Doesn't sound like compressor is working. With car running have cycle the the a/c and check that the compressor is engaging.

Thank you VSTECH,
I think the compressor is running. when the ec lite is on the clucth not turning, turn off the ec lite the clutch is turning. yesterday took it the ac shop just to be sure my hint is right. the mechanic hook up his gauges in both sides same thing he told my compressor done, is there anymore should I perform before go to the big job |

your gonna need a reciever/dryer as well, and you need to make sure the compressor didn't come apart and fill your system w/ shrapnel. you will need to flush the system if there is any chance of having bits of metal in it from the compressor. otherwise, you'll end up redoing the whole job. might just go ahead and flush it anyway to make sure.

Thanks 69shovlhed, I read about flushing the system is that same thing as pulling a vacuum? I am kind of lost about flushing can you ellaborate how to cause never did before. Do I have to open compressor to find broken internal parts scared about the sharpnel. I also planned to replace the expansion valve I read in sticky there is a lot involve on the TXV. Appreciate your help.

Flushing the ENTIRE system is NOT the same as evacuation. After a catastrophic compressor failure, debris is strewn throughout the entire system. All connections must be disconnected and flushing agent put in each line, then blown out with compressed air. If ALL debris is not removed from the system, the debris will be sucked into the new compressor and destroy it.
Once all lines are flushed, the correct amount of oil needs to be distributed among the components and a new filter drier installed as last thing immediately followed by a thorough evacuation. It is best to also install a suction side filter in the line leading to the compressor. |

at the very least, you need to verify if there is a screen before the condenser (front) coil, and see if any debris are present in it. if not, you will have to disconnect the suction line from the evaporator, and the compressor, and fill with flushing agent, and blow it out and look for grit or slime. next you will have to remove the lines off the condenser. the 99 will have a parallel flow condenser, so if debris are present in there, it's impossible to get them out. there better be a screen upstream of it. then the lines between the condenser and the dryer will need to be flushed like the suction was, and the dryer replaced. then the line between the dryer and the txv also flushed and the txv replaced. then all seals replaced, and reassembled, then leak tested, then evacuated and recharged.
not easy, or cheap.

I am thinking about gettting my AC working and learn something in regards to working on auto AC's. I have a few questions:
1. What's inside of the TXV. How does it work and how do you test it? 2. Are there commom flushing agents that can be used instead of buying expensive AC flush agents? What are purpose made AC flush agents made of?

Flushing the system.
Thank you all' your are best,
I think there is good chance the compressor is completely done when I pulled out the gauges in either side trace of green slimey coming out from the ports. I will going flush out all the neccesary lines and install filter I got to figure how to. Is the flushing agent comes in aerosol or liguid form I'll check with Napa see if they carry that stuff, this is gonna be big job I will post later whenever comes out. Thanx, Dan |

Hmmmm, green slimy stuff, either leak test dye or so called stop leak stuff. Neither is good for the A/C system.

hit the green slime w/ a UV light and see if it's flourescent. if it is it's dye. no problem w/ the dye despite rumors to the contrary. it does not separate from the oil or congeal or anything like that. if you see it anywhere outside of the system, you'll know you got a leak to fix. if there are any flakes of metal or anything else in the oil, the compressor has come apart.
