Can we help this guy???

sale-jjcvx-1725054191@craigslist.org
Does anyone know how to direct him to solve the transmission problem?
I wouldn't normally get involved in this, but to sell a nice car due to a possibly simple fix just isn't right. Maybe we could help someone keep their car at little to no cost.

how about one of you guys in the USA sending him a little email with a link or 2 for vac probs on here. Its probably a vac line in the locks or the climate control that is the problem. The car should change up though, maybe he hasnt revved it enough.

he is misinformed, and or misinforming potential buyers.
the transmission will shift without any vacuum at all. it will shift hard, but it will shift.
the problem is in the valve body/clutch assembly. not shifting out of 2nd is probably a spring issue. but could easily be a blown transmission.
no simple vacuum fix could fix it.
I texted back and forth with him a bit. he seems to know the bowden adjustment. I offered him a transmission, and pointed him to this site.

I went to see this car saturday. Young guy seemed pretty nice. He and his dad make their own biodiesel and run the family fleet on it.

Tried the kickdown switch and that wasn't it. Bowden cable appeared broken above engine, but my experience is pretty limited so not sure if that's the deal.

I walked on the car due to interior condition and previously mentioned color (not so great in person), but could be a nice daily driver with some tlc.

his reply of a loose bowden makes sense now...
broken cable would keep it from shifting for sure.

If someone has a picture of where the bowden cable attaches to the engine I'd know for sure. There were broken plastic bits there and no way to adjust tension. Car shifted to 2nd almost immediately and then pulled pretty well. Seemed like a strong engine.

I think the body color is antricite, but if you post the VIN we can do a russian search and find out what all came with the car!
or do a search here, for russian vin decoder, and you'll find plenty of links to it, and you can pull up all the pertinent info!
