Self leveling suspension (rear), it was hydropneumatic rear suspension and available on S500 / 600 (I checked on it) but I don't believe you could get it on the W140 300SD or S350D (same thing).

Me too, only I have a large hydraulic jack I'm carrying around too...need to unload that thing.

As a side note, if your rear wheels don't sit entirely vertical with the car at rest you may have deteriorated lower transverse control arm bushings. My rear wheels didn't stand vertically until I replaced these bushings. They are the hydraulic bushings at the bottom and they go bad.

Yes, I typically get 166 miles on the first quarter tank in town. If I drive on the highway it's even better, then again I don't hammer on it much either.

I'm not sure how you would check calibration of the speedo. Sounds like you need to fix the trip odometer at the very least. If you know someone in law enforcement you could ask them if they would clock you at various speeds using the radar...maybe?

I thing I do have it because and maybe this will solved the mystery, see every time I get in there is this pumping sound that I don't know where is coming from.

This speedo and the odometer is not working as is dead
As far as calibration after I get it working I have one of this hand held GPS that gives me the distance and speed.

The pump sound you hear when you get in the car is likely to be the central locking pump under the back seat venting to atmosphere, or the soft close pump in the trunk also vents to atmosphere once it cycles.

If you did have SLS you would have a tandem power steering pump, which is clearly not what you have shown in the photos. The hydropneumatic system requires that pump, true air suspension didn't come about until the next generation W220 cars.

Since I don't know whether the speedo is cable driven or electronic on these I can't make a suggestion here. I do know that according to my interchange system the speedometer head is exclusive to the 300SD / S350D W140, then again I've found errors in the system too.

This are one of my favorites too but the s350 came before the 240 so here I'm thanks for the offer though.

I was looking on this one but was late.

New developments.

Hi, I like to update you in the white smoke situation, (defiantly is not oil) But Is not too clear to me why it happens, Some times I let it set in idle for several minutes and then the engine starts to run kind a rough black smoke comes out of the tale pipe then I put it in drive and that is when the heavy cloud of white smoke comes out in one big puff then gradually dissipates, I tried to get a picture of it but it don’t do it all the time.
Another thing happens again not all ways is hard to start it starts and quits is like is starving of fuel so I floor it and gradually the rpm come up and then runs fine.
Any of this indicates what mite be going on here? The car runs fine 95% of the time and than is like someone unplugs something and all this things happens than mysteriously with out me doing anything see goes in to normal mode.

update on wihte smoke

Hi,
Finely the white/blue's smoke has reveal his ugly head. The turbocharger have blown the seal at 75 mph the engine have revved up to 5000 rpm and I immediately shot the engine off the smoke that came out the tail pipe was so thick I am thankful dint cause an pile up.

I don’t know if any one is watching this topic what I like to know if any one can point me to a link with instructions how to remove the turbo so I can replace the seal, the baring it appears tight only couple hears of movement.
I fined all the 300SD remove and replace DIY but non for S350 ….

I don't think a DIY's been written for the .971. It's pretty straightforward, though. Remove the crossover pipe, remove the EGR valve, remove the mixing pipe, detach the turbo oil feel line from the block, engine mount arm and turbo, disconnect the turbo air intake hose, disconnect the wastegate actuator hose, disconnect the downpipe, release the turbine housing bracket from the exhaust manifold, remove the bolt from the stub bracket to the engine mount arm (keep the bracket for support), remove the 4 nuts holding the turbo to the exhaust manifold, lift the turbo from the engine bay keeping track of the oil supply line and oil drain tube slip fitting. That's from memory, not from the FSM.

Thank you that is the best direction answer
So the turbo is ruining from the oil pump? and the seal that is suppose to be bad is behind the turbo and in front of the turbine do I have it correctly?
And can all this work be done from the top no need to remove the engine?

The turbo is fed oil by the engine oil pump. The oil returns to the engine oil pan.

There are a number of seals in the turbo. Some can leak into the intake manifold resulting it too much fuel, some can leak into the downpipe resulting in more smoke than anything else. Obviously oil can leak in both directions.

Here's some info on resealing a Garrett turbo. Note that I say resealing even if it's a rebuild kit. A proper rebuild includes close measurements and balancing parts at something like 100,000 rpm - G-Pop Shop :: quick links Rebuilt Kits :: Garrett T3, T4, T3/T4 Rebuild Kits

It's easier to release the oil supply line connection to the block from below but you might be able to reach from above in your car.
