Windshield wiper problems

Once again, this is not diesel related, but it is on my 300 SD, so I think it will be OK to post this.

The wipers started to not want to get moving last week. It only did it a couple of times. My kids were driving to school today when they realized the wipers would not move more than two inches without help during each stroke.

Is there any chance the linkage just needs lubed, or should I start looking for parts? Has anybody worked on the wiper assembly of the 116 chassis before, and if so could you share syour experience with me? I would appreciate it very much.

Thanks again,
Doug Vazquez

Don't know if this will help but I took apart my rear latch wiper motor last week (wagon). The gears were lubed fine but part of the mechanism had become sloppy causing the wipers to stop half way in a stuck position. Tightened everything down and drilled a couple of holes to place 2 set screws. Works like a charm now.

Thanks Don,

I will open up the guts this weekend hopefully. Until them I guess Rain-X will have to do.

On my 95 S'Class the ignition switch had to be replaced to fix the same problem on my wipers. Not enough juice going to them.
