Right blinker indicator not working...

I was messing around with the instrument cluster of my (edit) 300D last night trying to replace the little bulb that illuminates the dash in (upper left side) when the bulb accidently dropped down inside the cluster...

I stuck a replacement bulb into the little socket and put it back in place, but it maybe shorting something in there because now, the right turn signal indicator light is not working... I can hear the relay clicking and I can see the right blinker blinking fine, but the right indicator inside the cluster is not illuminating. I pulled out the bulb and it checks out fine... anything else that anyone can recommend before I tear into that cluster (again)...

So now I have the original problem: the malfunctioning dash bulb (pill bulb) that refuses to light PLUS the now malfunctioning blinker indicator light. I hate it when I don't fix the first problem and create a new one...

I should also mention that I've had ongoing issues witht he hazard lights relay and I had to disassemble it and manually switch it off for the hazard lights to stop linking insessently. Is there a chance the turn signals are wired thorugh that relay?!

The cluster is made of several parts that must be aligned/assembled correctly, if either or both of the two panels under the turn signal bulbs is shifted = the two small power tabs of the bulb socket will fail to seat/contact the printed circuit = remove the turn signal bulb sockets, loosen the screws, shift the panels, tighten the screws, install the turn signal bulb sockets and test.

This will answer your second question.

Reading this post I got the feeling that if the hazzard switch was bad the blinkers would either BOTH be off or BOTH be on... but not individually... looks like the problem is most likely in the instrument cluster?!

The hazard switch can fail so that one or both turn signals do not work.

Update...

Update: I just replaced the hazard switch in my 300D last night with a replacement item I got from one of forum members (jt20) - the unit works fine, but the problem with the right blinker did not go away... At least the hazard lights can now be turned on/off without any fuss.

Guess I'll need to dig into the dash and take the insturment cluster out once more - was trying to avoid that....
