Update #10
The axle is on.
I drove it today in the snow/slop. :D LR wheel bearing is failing = two weeks. The only working window at the moment is LF = driver = repair/replace when I have time. Rear brake, inner pistons seized = rebuild when I have time. Small trunk leak, possible deck lid seal or rear window seal = repair/replace when I have time. No heat on feet = repair/replace when I have time. Driver Rear brake backing plate crumbled = forced to remove the parking brake with no mount plate = repair/replace when I have time. |

Roy,
Your a magnet for free cars !! Hope it has all you need on it!! "I am looking at blue tooth options for an answer." I guess you could have one of those ear piece wireless things. I have one, its a PITA some of the time. Try talking to some one while you have some one waiting on the phone!! I tend to loose it in the house, no one can find it at the moment ! :D |
wait, Roy, now you have gotten TWO free 190 stick cars?
|

The owner is moving home to south east Asia x:00 AM Tuesday 12-14-2010. The interior is almost perfect. Plenty of rust. No title. I needed a parts car to fix mine. :D Pictures tomorrow. The weather fouled all roads. 31 miles each way. We started to leave at 7:30 AM. Two dead batteries, a cracked radiator and frayed nerves later 9:30 AM we are off to get the car. No food or rest stops, fuel used $40.00 Two hours to unload the car from his ice covered trailer, and load it on a tow dolly. Got it home 4:00 PM today. One hour to unload it. One hour to return the dolly. Now my wifes car has two bad rear tires I must change tonight.  Why am I tired??? Our high today was a scorching 13° F wind chill was -6° F. http://detroit.justweather.com/?default=true http://www.clickondetroit.com/video/26114679/index.html |
Ya Know I saw that 190d and thought of You but forgot about it ;)

both my stick cars were nearly free to me, not counting the drive to get them, and what not... getting them the way they need to be is another $$ altogether... I hope your latest acquisition doesn't have the same rusted out parts as the ones you need for your car! |
Update on the parts car
Quote:
* No clutch pedal * Drove it up my driveway. * Brakes OK. * Vacuum system in-op. * Nice tires 80% tread. * Engine mounts trashed. * Front springs broken at bottom coil. * Grill is junk. * Hood will not latch or lock closed. |

Finally got a picture of some the driver door rust.
|
You call THAT rust? Man, when I was a boy, we had cars so rusty that we had to carry the doors around with us cause they wouldn't stick to the car... etc.... :D
|
Update# 13
The spare keys arrived with the CD. :D
Running strong. Driver rear wheel bearing will be replaced in a few days. The front mud flaps fell off. Cooling system slow leak, suspect the heater core. |
Well, hey there Roy! And Welcome to the 190 family! As you know we have the 4spd in our 190d and the car has continued to be very good to us. My wife even learned to drive a manual tranny on her- (and you met her- she's NOT a patient woman!)
I am really looking forward to hearing more about this project! Maybe not as exciting as a Rolls, or an imported Belgian Limosine car, but exciting nonetheless! Keep us posted!-- John |
This is going to eventually be at least a 1000 post thread!!!
I can see teenagers learning to drive in the car & too many adventures to speak of !!! |
