617 IP removable without filter tower removal?

Seems the governor bolt is too close to the filter tower, as is the plastic vacuum actuator just to the rear of the AlDA anerod unit.

Remove both of those and possibly it can be done.

Anyone with experince? I have seen some here state it is doable.

Please include detail regarding this question if you have first hand experience.

Thanks in advance.

I swear there is not enough rear ward mobility... requires an inch or so to disengage from the studs, the governor bolt and vacuum gizmo on top are way too close. Perhaps once the 3 nuts are off the studs you can swing it little to get more rearward movility....

It seems that way but when you see the intermediate shaft set up I think it will become clearer. I had not trouble on my euro W123 OM617 (like I said in the other thread). Give it a go - it'll come good.
