awesome glove box find! MB manual

it's not a FSM, but it's got exploded views of EVERY motor and trans etc from the 80's

I'm not sure the purpose of the book, because there are no part numbers in it... just detail numbers...
but it's COOL!

My car had one in the glove box also for W123 300 and 280 coupe. The description of the parts are written in about 8 different languages up at the top. I found it helpful in working on my car like when I replaced the alternator. The exploded view of the parts made it easy to figure out what went where.

It's like the EPC in paper form (I actually have one of these for the W116 chassis)!

I have one that came with the 240D. dated 11/79 and covers 230/280E-240D/300D, catalog "G".

Pretty cool how it shows every component of the car in an exploded view. even shows the automatic trans, and manual trans. and IP like John shows.

Too cool. These pics are great references. When I bought my SD, it came with he original VIN and owner info plate. It was bought by an undisclosed gentleman in Raleigh.

The '87s came with these books also. Thanks for reminding me, I always forget to look it over before starting a project.

Both my 85 380se and my 86 300sdl had them in the glove compartment. A very useful tool for looking at parts and how they go together. I can remember taking the book in to my local dealer and pointing to the part and picture and the parts man would look it up on a microfiche screen. He would see the same pages that were in the book, but his had part numbers.
I guess these served the purpose of the epc we access now on the Mercedes web site.
I have found the epc website invaluable in my search for parts and also for looking up data cards using the VIN.
And it is free!!!!
Gotta love it!

I have one for typ 300td/ 300td turbodiesel dated 3/81 catalog "D" that I got with a set of FSM's from my Aunt. I guess it came with her 81 wagon. I always thought it was part of the FSM set. Thanks for the info!

Great stuff - post some more pictures please.

Does the book by any chance have a part number?
