it's best to begin a new thread for the heat issue.

the transmission has a pair of drains. one in the pan, one in the torque converter. drain all the oil from those bolts, then drop the pan. change the filter, and gasket on the pan. put it back on, and fill via the dipstick tube 5 quarts. start the car, let it idle for a minute, then put it in drive, reverse, drive, low, 3, drive, reverse. then check the level while the car idles in park. aim for the low point on the dipstick then go for a drive. park on a known level spot and check it again after the car is up to full operating temp.

any transmission fluid rated Dexron III
not the new Dexron VI

This will get you into the ball park. It's basically the same procedure as listed here: http://www.peachparts.com/Wikka/Trans7226Fluid.

Drain pan and torque converter.
