I've always thought if I wanted to put an american motor into a benz it would have to be a small block ford.

It looks just like my first diesel. Mine was a 72 though.

It is funny how the W114 / 115s go for more money in Germany than here in Holland and the UK. Generally speaking W123s do better here but not in Germany... so it is of little surprise to see that the car was sold for lots of dosh to some chap in Germany.

Did anyone notice the "289" sticker on the the air cleaner? Not a 5 liter (302) as stated. Car looks nice but looks to be a repaint. Used to seeing under coating or protectant over paint (under body), not the other way around. Then again I'm not familiar with Benz's this old.

My Dad bought a brand new '69 220D as the first of several MB diesels used as a road car for his business. If anything, I'd like to see a car like that with the I6 turbodiesel of the '98-'99 W210. Now, that would be worth looking at IMO. The American gasser engine? Meh!

bdtsr, my 73 220d was original when i bought it, i dont know if it was faded undercoating, however the wheelwells were painted the color of the car. the only black undercoating as on the underside of the floor pans.
