83TD my shifter sounds like card in bike spokes

only under acceleration, not at speed with the accelerator up.
every time all the time above 30mph...
odd.
I've not taken the console apart yet to track it down... arrgh!

Inspect the lower most bushing, this is done by simply getting under the car and looking.

You may want to pull the shift lever all the way back, this will send the lower end forward.

My coupe did this, the bushing was shot and the end of the shift lever was rubbing against the driveshaft.

My wagon did this, someone put the shift rod in upside-down. Another possibilty is that something is wrapped around your driveshaft/yoke/flex-joint.

If you have all the answers, and nothing ever goes wrong = you're NOT working.

heh, if only that were so...

I actually think the mod rules go something like this:
1. control dissention in the ranks.
2. keep the peace.
3. check in each day.
4. see rule #1.
