Overfueling 240D

Good morning all. First I would like to introduce my self. My name is Chuck, I live in Edgewood NM. I am a proud owner of an 83 W123 diesel. I made an.amazing find, bought the car, with an extra engine and transmission and new front seats and.rear bench for $500.00. Shows 134617 on the odometer. Reinstated the ip, got it running great, but it is.over fueling. Grey smoke with raw diesel smell at start up, that clears after a minute or two. On the highway it is fairly clean until I accelerate and he black grey smoke discourages tailgating. Other than that and trying to figure out the vacuum system the car is great. I am sorry if this was posted earlier, but in my searches I couldn't find anything. Perhaps my question was not acceptable to. Computer.

Thanks
Chuck Hudson
