This is all that came out on mine. I have receipts of a rebuilt tranny from the PO. I wonder what else they screwed up?

It should be "This is facing toward the FRONT of the car"

The error was in interpretation. The camera (and observer) was facing in the rearward direction. Sort of hard to take a picture of the front of the valve body facing any other way.

It's possible that a shift improvement kit was installed. Hardly a "screw up" if it worked.

"Drop the pan and this is what you see. This is facing toward the rear of the car."

Notice the subject is "this", used twice in the two sentences quoted above, so one would interpret "this" to be the same thing, i.e. the plate. If "this" was meant to refer to the camera or the photographer, it would have been clearer if it said: "the camera is facing toward the rear of the car or "I am facing toward the rear of the car".

My starter was held in with one bolt to the bell housing, the engine and tranny was held together with only 2 bolts, one of which was loose, the others were missing. Did that shop do that for shift improvement?

I got stranded by that loose bolt, this was when I first bought my first 300D, not knowing much about the car. See this thread for the gory details.

Your descriptions are a lot more concise, allowing no ambiguity. Anyone after putting the pan back on with a new gasket, put in a gallon of fresh ATF and have a leak pouring out? I drained and took the pan off twice to clean and reseat the new gasket, finally put the old gasket back thinking it was a bad pan gasket only to have the same thing happen. That's when I realized it was leaking out the breather and not the pan gasket! Man did I feel like an idiot after that. I wish I have read instructions prior on how to fill a transmission after a full drain. That happen to anyone else? Tell the truth now.

You might not have meant to post here but I think your story is worth adding to the thread just in case anyone is thinking about springs =>
