I don't know what your crankshaft looked like when you replaced the bearings, but I'll tell you a story. A friend of mine in the cesspool business accidentally stalled, or almost stalled, his 1981 Mack. In actuality, it stalled and started up running backwards, but he didn't realize it right away. It spun one rod bearing. His mechanic replaced the one bearing, and the repair lasted several miles. The cure was a "Pedigreed" rebuilt engine- for $18,000.

Pozalusta for that. ????

Are you certain this is not extreme nailing? It can sound like a ball peen hammer on a bath tub.?

Point two. While not a MBZ expert by any means, only a small amount of alum, if any, should be present in teh oil filter after an engine rebuild, and its typically NOT bearing material. If the oil filter looks like a tinsel town rebellion, then the rebuild did not work and you likely have a bad crank. Did you have the journals ground? They are typically dusted 10 thou for concentricity and fitment.
