I would be surprised if the cab was a/c'd in 1963.

Chad and kerry - you've both got impeccable taste.

I bet all of these Hanomags are really reliable judging by the amount of nice looking Bosch stuff on them (one of the many benefits of a Mercedes Benz in my opinion)

Can someone give us a brief history of the relationship between Hanomag and MB? At one time the old 206d vans were Hanomags yet they had MB engines and an MB star on them.

I'm no expert but I guess because you're talking about commercial vehicles it is much like trucks, buses and coaches - often the engine manufacturer's badge is shown as well as the badge of the body builder.

OK not quite a tractor but...

...if you ever go to the Dutch National Rail Museum in Utrecht you might be lucky enough to see this =>

I think there's still a diesel in there. But there is also an electric which could be handy in the future!

The only way to tractor...

Deere 5101E Limited. Not mine but I can use it any time I need a big tractor. That cab and a/c make it pretty civilized.

I have a JD 4320 ~ about that era. it had an evaporative cooler on the roof & loover windows.
The cooler is long gone, having the windows open when there is a breeze is quite pleasant.

Hey layback why not post up some pictures of these wonderful things you've got?

not when I was a kid! We had an IH 1066 that I used to have to use because it didn't have AC....that was not fun.

never thought of it. I will. You should have asked sooner, when things were all clean before the season started.

A gentleman's tractor is all very nice for your glitzy garage (and probably even better in MY glitzy garage) but to see them in their natural environment is only correct and right. Post 'em up if you've got the time (and you're not fixing yet another turbo after some enthusiastic 17 year old has been givin' it some)

AC is not common in the European enclosed cab tractors. I worked on a farm in scotland and none of our Ford or JD tractors had it. But the heat worked well and that is all you need most of the time there.
BTW because the market for used tractors over there is limited, you will occasionally find an enclosed cab european model over here. There was at least one american equipment buyer at every farm auction I attended over there. They buy them cheap, and sell them over here for a profit.
Looked one time at a JD for sale in Scottsboro, AL and couldn't understand why it didn't have AC. Then found an outline of writing on the side indicating that it had once belonged to the mowing detail in Northumberland.
