The most annoying thing to put back on methinks will be the driveshaft...hopefully I can get the bolt for the length adjustment loose so I can slide it easily into place on the transmission |

Where'd you get the new motor? It's from a wagon, or did you switch over the head?

It is from a wagon, got it from a guy who rebuilds Mercedes in Boulder, CO. He wanted $300, said it smoked only a little. Still better than one with major internal issues

Good new! New engine is in, running, idles and runs great!
Bad news!: Transmission refuses to shift properly, does anybody have a good vacuum diagram? |

What exactly is the transmission doing?

It doesn't shift till high rpms and wont go into 4th.
Now I realize I mated a non turbo transmission to a turbo engine, but it should still shift on time. |

I have the vacuum set up like the diagram for the 300SD Turbo, still isn't shifting out of 2nd (or occasionally 3rd when it does shift).
Either way, it waits until the engine is excessively revving to shift. I'm getting quite frustrated with this transmission |

Have you unplugged the kickdown switch?

Disclaimer: I have no personal experience, but am repeating what I think I've seen elsewhere: Bowden cable adjusts shift points, vacuum affects quality (firmness) of shifts. So...maybe not a vacuum issue. |

Hmm

If the rods are not connected, damaged, or the bushing where the downshift rod connects to the transmission lever is missing. This would directly impact shifting. |
