Its really strange you guys mention the W108...

My father had one when I was younger, also a 280SE. Beautiful cars, lots of character. Notorious for rust though, right? I remember being able to see the road through the floor pan:

"Dad...? Why did Mirzaydeez make the car so you can see whats under you?"

We always joke that he planted the seed into me. Its a genealogical sickness.

Mines not all that bad...floors are good shape, some rust in the rockers, bottom of right fender and the left quarter. But like you said....these were built back in the days before they got any good at rust prevention.

I've got new parts to fix that except the front fender I'll fab a patch panel for that and mig weld it since the rust is confined to one area.
