As many of you know I have been considering swapping a 300d engine for a 240d engine. As luck would have it a running, less rusty 85 240 with leather and a sunroof has fallen into my lap for 500.00. Only issue is that it is an automatic. Will the 83 4 speed bolt without issue to the 85 automatic without any issues ? Somewhere I recall some crankshaft change in 83 or so but my brain is foggy. Use the auto diff with the stick or the 4 speed ? I know about the radiator and linkage differences and I believe the pedal cluster is plug and play. I checked to forum archive with no luck.
