Temporary fixes for leaking rear windshield
Hi,
The passenger side of the rear windshield seal started leaking a bit so that after a few nights of rain, the drips add up to almost a small amount of water in the trunk area. The seal still looks good visually so it's not completely gone. Then windshield is also seated very well and seems secure. Is there any temporary fix sealant that can suffice for a few months? Paying to get the windshield removed and re-sealed isn't really on the top of my priorities list. Thanks for the advice. Alex

Hi Alex,I just did this on my car.My seal had about 6 cracks that had been fixed by PO.All were down in the corners.I cleaned it up and resealed it with silicone.Try lifting the edge of the seal to check for cracks.I was getting a steady drip at both corners which fell on the inner wheelhouse's in the trunk. But it depended on how the car was sitting, sometimes it wouldn't leak for days.Good luck.

Here's some stuff you might want to try, but the silicone idea is much cheaper and I think it works the same.

I put silicone in the corners of my windows, stopped the leaks. Buy a nice little tube of GE clear silicone at your local home depot for $2.89 and be done.

Silicon adhesive. Good idea. I'll give that a try when this damn rain ends. Thanks a lot

I had major rear window leak that caused a puddle of water on rear floor of my SD every time it rained. I made a hook out of heavy wire and carefully cleaned under the edge of the seal then scrubbed it with alcohol and applied flowable silicon it took 4 small tubes to do the intire seal but now nary a drop of water and we live in the North West where we sunbathe in a light rain. I had tried regular silicon on my 240 with poor results.....
