What type of motors were used on 307D in 1986 campervan?

I have decided that i will look for stronger motor. I know that in my campervan can fit many motors. But here in Slovenia i can legally drive only with motors which were used on that campervan for that year. I am looking for some document that will prove that specific motor was used in that series campervans in that year when my was built. So then i will go technical office to change my car document.

Or just for beginning of this process tell me pleas what engines were used in my case. Then when i will find one of them i will go to local Mercedes office and ask for document.

And just another thing what are the difference between 307D -308D-309D?
Just motor or else?

The motor is 616.939

In September 1981 the 407 D and 409 D were added with a gross weight of 4,600 kg (10,141 lb). The 409 D had a bigger and more powerful Diesel engine with five cylinders, 3005 cc and 88 hp (65 kW), It was the OM 617 engine which was also used in the Mercedes-Benz 300D passenger car. Other revisions throughout the vans production were minor, the OM616 engine having a modified cylinder head which lowered the capacity from 2404 cc to 2399 cc, but producing slightly more power (72 bhp) and then later on to 2304 cc, producing 78 bhp (58 kW) and the van thus redesignated as 208D, 308D and 408D. The 5 cylinder variant was also changed from 3005 cc to 2898 cc, again producing slightly more power and the models re-designated 210D, 310D and 410D

and the van thus redesignated as 208D, 308D and 408D.
and the models re-designated 210D, 310D and 410D

So they are not 307D.

I need informations that explains that 307D has a specific motor (307D with
om617 or om602 for example)
or that 307D is equal as 308D or 309D or310D except of motor.

Ok, i will go to local Mercedes office and i will ask.

I have talk with responsible person which is making tests on vehicles and giving permissions for documents. And he told me that i am not the first case, with this request and that there is no problem. Many person have jet done this modification.

It is that i have got wrong information from other source before and i was worried for nothing.

So, thank you , but maybe does exist some data base where i can get information which i was looking for.

I believe all XX7d's and XX8d's had the 616 engine. All XX9d's and X10d's had the 617 engines. (except for the larger buses on a larger chassis designated 309d's which had different engines altogether)

Pr2501,
Don't be distracted by the 307...308etc.designtaion(it is more or less the 200D...or 250D badges on a w124 for example). IMHO it`s the chassis type that matters. So,your van is a 602...This chassis family was equipped with om616,om617,om601,om602 and some gasoline engines like M102 and M115.

I think the authorities are quite familiar with those details.

Here you are:
Technical data for Mercedes 602 Van / Flatbed

Edit:
...can legally drive only with motors which were used on that campervan for that year...
Wow,that narrows it...are you sure?
Acc. to EPC, WDB602.367XXXXXXXX were fitted with om601 too...for the Japanese market...but from which year? Or produced along with the other?

Last digit in the XX7 or XX8 etc is the horsepower of the engine 7=70 8=80 rounded to the nearest 10. I'm pretty sure what I wrote applies to the 86 models as far as diesel options are concerned.

Vox incognita thank you
Different people at different test centers have told me different information on the phone.
But to be sure i will go personally to check at test office if om602.940 (95HP) is OK.

Do You know if next technically can fit to? (just curiosity)

This camper is for 8+1 person. And 3 m high because of bed room over the driver head. And sits for passenger can be transformed into bed or turned to have table between. I will do place for sleep for other two person between rear wheals, or option of table with sits there for drinking and playing strip poker.
So my van will have 6 - 8 places for sleep or two table for party.

It will have also small kitchen with refrigerator and gas stove, and also a large bar as big as it will be possible. My sister will drew something crazy to destroy any restrictions.
Maybe i will put disco ball light also.

Is it not worth the money?
How much would you pay for it?

I was working on it yesterday and today, as i am working from august.
So do not touch my camper. (let me do something special).

I could not get 95HP motor, but just 80HP in good conditions.
It has 210 thousand miles. And worked mostly long-distance. Wire from the clock to gearbox was never touched.Together I bought a gearbox and rear axle. It is not strong as i wanted it, but i believe that i will I travel worry-free.

if you're where I think you alluded to earlier, those mountains near Trieste will certainly offer you a challenge. Let us know how the camper does.
