Quick 240D fuel pump question

Howdy, this is my first post on this site. I've owned a 78 240D for about three months. Had been sitting for 8 years. Executor of the original owners estate wanted $2,800; got it for $1,000. Had a brand new Excide battery too! After replacing everything with the brakes except the rear rotors and a new set of skins I put about 1,000 miles on it. Then it stopped. I have fuel on the output of the secondary filter when I use the primer pump, but nothing when I turn the car over. I bought a new Bosch fuel pump on ebay similar to the one sold on this site, but it looks a lot different than the one I have. The seller said it was a match for the 78 240D; I'd just like some help confirming that. Attached are images of the one I have now. Thanks!

That looks right. Why don't I see any fuel in your primary filter?

When you say it "stopped" can you be more specific? You were driving down the road a it just died?

If you are concerned whether you have the right pump you might consider reinstalling the old pump and try tow starting your car, unless you are totally sure it was a pump problem in the first place. Those pumps usually last the life of the car, then some.

X2 on no fuel in the primary filter. Loosen the fuel line just after the fuel pump and pump it until there is fuel with no air coming out, re tighten line. Put a pan under the engine to catch drips. You will still have air in the rest of the fuel system, the easy but not to proper way to get the rest out is, keep pumping the primer and watch the clear return line to the filter, you will see bubbles of air going through. keep pumping until all air bubbles stop and just fuel is going through. then try to start.

No one has mentioned that a plugged Fuel Tank screen will also cut off the Fuel Flow to the Fuel Supply/Lift Pump.

Thanks for the replies.
First, about two weeks ago after a drive of about 120 miles, I pulled the car in my garage to change the alternator belt. When I was done, the car would not start. One time before this had happened, and after loosening the caps on the injectors and turning the engine over until I saw fuel seeping out, tightened them back up. Car started right up. This time however, no fuel out of the #1 and 2 caps, just the slightest bit out of #3 & 4. Then I checked the primary filter. Totally clogged. Changed it. No start. Changed the secondary filter. No start. During this time the primer hand pump is leaking like a sieve. Changed the primer pump. No start. I concluded it was the fuel pump by loosening the fuel input banjo connector on the injection pump and pumping the hand pump on the fuel pump. Plenty of fuel leaked out. However, while the banjo connector was still loose, I turned the engine over. Nothing came out.

I get fuel to the filters without any problems. The tank screen and the hoses by look new.

The primary filter does not have any fuel in it because I just changed out the original clear plastic fuel lines for rubber ones, and having to still install the new fuel pump, chose not to re-prime the system until it is installed. It was sent "snail-mail" (UPS) and should arrive tomorrow. Hopefully it is a fit. Along with changing the fuel pump I'll be installing parallel glow plugs. Yes, the ground strap will end up in the parts box with the resistor wires!

Thanks again for your attention and replies!
