Does it really matter what throwout bearing you use?

I'm about to start the manual swap on my 300TD. I have the newer style 1 piece trans. I ordered a new oe Sachs TO bearing. I installed it and it seemed to go on correctly, but it's different than the old TO bearing I removed. Will it still work? Or should I go order the other style? The trans is out of a '83 240D.
