It's tough to know if you're local without a location.

Go to the top of this screen and select "Buy Parts." Then enter the part number on the next screen.
When I do that, it shows that the part is available.

If your 3/2 valves are leaking, you could just block the vacuum line runnng to them for a temporary solution. Are you subject to emissions inspection?

Loads of vacuum adjustment information has been collected here

DIY W123 Transmission Diagnose and Adjustment 722.xx OM 616-7 - Benzworld.org - Mercedes-Benz Discussion Forum

It is a good place to start but you do need to be patient - there is a whole load of information there.

Answer

Her issue is no training and the part is discontinued-NLA = nobody has them.

She is asking for:
* Local help to show her how to bypass the 2-3 vacuum valve.
* A local forum member with a good used 2-3 vacuum valve willing to install it/show her how to (for a reasonable fee).
* Tips on what local salvage yards to search for discontinued-NLA parts.

She has been ripped off for a minimum of $1,300.00 on this 2-3 valve transmission shift issue.

She is willing to learn, and I showed her Harbor Freight Tools to build a low cost basic tool set.

NE San Fernando Valley has a number of Pick a Part places along with some specialty yards including a couple of MB yards.

For a $1300 dollar repair that doesnt work I think I would be over there every Saturday morning about 9am raising hell very very loudly making sure that every customer there heard what kind of firm they were dealing with.

(Has anyone approached the dealer for this part?)

But more to the point can we be sure that after $1300 the diagnosis is correct?

Disconnect the modulator then rev it higher so the shifts don't slam so hard. Or time all the lights on Sepulveda
