Do you have a "Holy Grail" MB?

Do you have a Mercedes model (diesel or gas) that if you ever saw one for sale you would buy it without hesitation?

I thought that mine was the 560SL. I saw it, bought it, drove it then realized that it was not me, then sold it in less than a year.

Well, assuming I had money (which is not the case at present, so no PMs pls):

1. A w116 280se, euro spec, with a manual transmission. I drove one once and it was a hell of a ride, the stick completely transforms a w116. (Unfortunately, the particular car was rotten beyond all reasonable hope.)

2. A low mileage NA-spec w116, preferably a 300sd but a nice, late-production 450sel would be second.

3. If I could go back in time, I would reverse my then-decision to not scoop up the 500slc that a fellow list member on another list offered to me back in 2000 for $4k. That was one of my all-time boner automotive decisions.

I wouldn't mind finding a low mileage 85 300TD to replace my relatively high mileage 85 300TD.

Gullwing SLR 60's...

I snapped up the 5 speed 240, and 4 of the 1987 603 powered TD's they were my holy grail, now I've plans to sell one of them...

don't get me started on "holy grail" cars... I've had a few in my time looking, and for some CRAZY reason, I'm always looking for a modified 74 pantera... I just LOVE the way it looks... I know, it's a truck to drive, but that's why I specified MODIFIED!

Great looking Pantera!!!!! I would love to have a nice one that hadn't seen too much modification.

Probably my holy grail car with money being an object would be one of the few SL's that came to the States in about 1989 or so with the M104 and a manual transmission.

With money NOT being an object, it would not be an MB. It would be a Ford GT.

All that said, my TRUE holy grail vehicle would not be a car at all. It would be an L19 observation plane from the Vietnam era.

I think I'd also have to go for a 6.9 I like my 420, so a 6.9 would be even better!

'95 E300 or the 91-93 300D's.

With that said, since I'm rolling along with a new business (without going into debt) start up I am not in any position to be purchasing another car these days.

... both of these cars are easy to get... especially if you get one needing attention!

LOL - the wife keeps hinting about "updating". I imagine we will eventually own a 08+ E class.

If it's got to be a Merc and I'm being stupid with money, it would be either an E55 (4 door is worth major points with me) or an SL65. Honestly, if I were to be stupid with money, it wouldn't be a Mercedes and it was an Audi the last time I got stupid.
My serious, mature, real world self would snatch up a good '87 300d sedan, which is lighter than a wagon, and mod it my way. Which is what I've done.

Not sure about mb..... but for me a cheapish 603 powered G-wagen or a diesel powered Uni mog that I didn't have to mortgage my house to buy

Non mb..... way too much to count but a stage 2 powered Buick GSX or a 89 turbo trans am might do it.
