Most miles

23.8 miles X 31.5 mpg = 749.7 miles. That would be an incredible amount of miles on one tank of gas if you drove it to empty.
From Reno to the Oregon border and then home was 685.7 miles, the most ever on one tank. The "Reserve" light had blinked a couple of times and finally came on steady just as we reached our driveway. Next day I put in 22.017 gallons for 31.1 MPG. [The trip average of 31.5 MPG included the first leg at 32.5 MPG.] This was the first road trip for us in this car, which we have had for only 6 months. A trip that was all-freeway and steady cruising might return a mile or two better per gallon. We had a fair amount of two-lane roads and putzing around in Lava Beds National Monument.

Since most of my driving these days is around town, the way I look at the big tank is that I have to fill up only once every three weeks or so.

There was a thread here earlier this year about a '95 E300 owner trying to get 800 miles on a tank. If you could get the MPG up to 35, you could get 800 miles leaving 1 gallon reserve in the 23.8 gallon (90 liter) tank. You could also get 800 miles at 34 MPG but you'd be on fumes when you finished.

It would be valuable information to drain one of these fuel tanks completely and then fill it all the way to the neck to see if it really holds 90 liters or perhaps a bit more or less. I don't know how close the factory came to "90 liters."

i have seen a lot of pictures about w124 bodywork online with these vents backwards - it causes some real odd issues if your car's body is airtight like it was new - i fixed difficult closing doors, sunroof guide cable noise, dusty interior and road noise just by installing them correctly

Meaning no disrespect to your cellphone, when the car is finished, please take some good pictures with a real camera and share them with us.

Shop looks to be doing a good job! Enjoy the car once you get it back.

Also, be sure the shop puts the E300 and Diesel lettering in the correct spot. There is a thread on here where someone measured the distance of each from the left and right sides as well as the top and bottom of the trunk lid (see below).

It is a pet peeve of mine when the letters are too low or too close together...immediately tells me that the car's been hit.

EDIT: HERE IS THE THREAD 95 e300d trunk emblem help

As stated...very good looking work so far...no real orange peel or runs that I can tell from the pictures...wish I had a body shop like that around here!

Thanks for the tip!

Got them flipped before the bumper was on.
Should be picking up the car Tuesday or Wednesday.

I'm getting a tube of 3M emblem adhesive for the emblems on the trunk, told them not to bother, I'll do it thanks to the link with the measurements.

That's the stuff I used on my 95. It is unforgiving. It doesn't have a nozzle so it comes out of the tube without any means to control it. I used it, but it was a square ***** and took a ton of lot of time. Clean the backs of the letters really well too. A solvent that cuts the 3m emblem adhesive will also remove your new paint. I would recommend against the 3m emblem adhesive. Don't use it. Find some kind of silicone or rtv type adhesive made for emblems.

I am told the factory used a vacuum assisted cup type mold and the same 3M adhesive to paste the emblems. The wooden stirrer and backward blue masking tape trick is also good to make a neat install too.
