Which valve cover to oil separator hose combo to get?

Hey guys, I broke the hose from the valve cover to the oil separator (I believe) while working on my car. I had a very hard time finding a hose the style that was on my car, this style:

So I looked around and found this style:

I read many threads and supposedly one is an updated version of the other, but the question is which is which? I couldn't tell, some say the metal one is better, others the rubber, I know I need one rather than just venting to the atmosphere

Thanks,
Mike w.
