Sunroof glides rusty

Not sure if this is the best place to post this, but here goes:
While lubeing the glides/track on my '81300TD manual sunroof, I noticed quite a large amount of rust all along the sides of the glides. No holes, just surface stuff now...
Is this common?
Should I be worried?

The roof has not leaked (no *apparent* leakage), but I don't want this thing to fall into the car all of a sudden!

BTW, I am a paranoid freak, so please bear with me!

I can't see your car so I can't tell if it presents a danger of falling out. If it doesn't leak in the rain, it probably isn't all that bad. Oil the ways and hope for more sun My sunroof is well lubricated but varies in speed. It seems that if its cold, like at night, it operates sluggishly. In the daytime in the hot sun, it flys right open. Is my motor getting weak? How easy is this to replace? Does anyone else have this problem?

Dieseldaddy any chance of a photo?I agree with bwatson but we both have electric sunroofs.I would clean the roof drain holes whilst your at it, just in case it's water thats been sitting in there.
Yes BW your not alone out there my 82 300D suffers from the self same quirky problem. There has been previous threads on this problem so it's worth using the search facility if you have any questions.Bear
