Another Sunroof Problem ie 190D
When I bought this car the sunroof would not close all the way (i's say 90% closed). I'd read most of the posts on here about sunroofs and I thought I could fix it with no problem. Boy am I dumb.
![]() I managed to get the door to open with a lot of coaxing so that I could remove the sunroof headliner. I got the headliner removed and then I tried to close it so that I could get to the rear bracket. Well the sunroof jams about 5 inches from being closed. I tried to manually close the sunroof, but it will not close anymore. I can get the sunroof to open now, but it definitely does not want to close any further than 5 inches and that is not far enough forward for me to get to the screws on the cross bracket. The cross bracket is being hidden by the car headliner. The sunroof will not close manually any farthan it will electrically. I'm thinking that the only way that I am going to get to the back of the sunroof is to remove the car headline, which in all truthfulness is beyond me. Is there a way around this? I'm to the point that if I could just get the sunroof shut I would seal the sunroof and leave it shut. Any ideas?

Has anybody had their sunroof freeze at a point where you cannot disassemble it or move the sunroof manually.
In Indiana it is raining daily and I have the sunroof covered with plastic. I hate having my Benz look this way. Looking for the next step, but in reading through the archives the instructions was always to move the sunroof manually. My sunroof will move to a point both electrically and manually and jam. What can I do next?
