Soft points on the 300cd is the rear window regulator ,not strong enough , weather stripping woes ,seat replacements hard to find due to the fold up design that sedans dont have.As you become familiar with the car you pick up on the details ,the flip side its a bit more nimbiliar and sporty looking. Its no secret that Ive got c sss disease.

Here's your chance to own those hard to find parts. Nothing over $75. No affiliation. 1983 Mercedes-Benz 300CD

The weight difference is in the neiborhood of 90 to 120 pound weight difference from the coupe to the sedan ,you would think more due to loss of glass and sheer metal mass ,it most be somewhere in the roof or chassis.

I definitely wouldn't buy another early-year model, there just isn't enough sound deadening to make the cabin comfortable on highway trips. There are plenty of other dealbreaker issues with the car, like most needing new rubber everywhere. Needless to say, my CD is prepped for sale.

My only way into a W123 again would be finding Euro 280ce with a mint exterior and manual everything, then throwing $3-4k in parts at it.

Interesting notes from owners. I've never owned a coupe, I'd imagine it's mostly similar to the sedan and wagon, but slightly more agile due to the shorter wheelbase. But long term ownership and cost of parts replacement that are coupe-specific are definitely going to make potential owners consider some serious thought.

One thing I always noticed in coupes, is that the angle of the bottom cushion of the front seat is more inclined. This makes for a more "planted" seating position. This was probably done to maximize vertical seating room in the coupes.

Since the angle is not adjustable, both in sedans and coupes (wagons too), I've always thought of trying to put C123 front seat bases into my sedan and see if it'll work. The seats in my 300D are still very good, but after trying a 190E and 300TE w/ tilting front seats, now I'm looking for that ability so I can have a better seating position.

But since I don't need the vacuum folding backrest, I was wondering if the coupe front seat bottom cushions/bases are compatible with the sedan/wagon front seat backrests.

The side window surround trim really looks like something from a 20 yr older car-- like the 250c had too. i like the rear post on the earlier coupe better-- makes it look like a 66 nova. a lil muscle car.
What would be really cool is a 250c with the pentas and a V8 n 5 speed, euro bumpers and headlights would be a must!-- anything but the junk 3.5,-- or the guzzler 6.9. and add some duel pipes for sure.
