URGENT: Need Help - Broke Fuel Shut Off
While following this guide to replace the O ring on the fuel shut off lever I pushed the shaft into the pump. The shaft pulled back out (into place) but after starting the car it won't shut off. When I started the job the lever would not go up (resistance), now there is no resistance.
How do I realign / fix the problem I've created (Looking at post #3 in this thread I guess my IP rack is out of alignment. How do I fix that :/ ) FYI: I checked for a hose that may have come off / broke - no luck. To shut off the car I need to push the shaft into the pump and turn it. Then the car gradually runs out of fuel. I'm hoping this will be a simple fix because I need to have her on the road Friday morning. Last edited by 300D-91; 10-24-2012 at 09:09 PM. |

FIXED!
For future reference here is how I fixed the problem Disconnect vacuum from the vacuum shut off valve Push shaft into pump Apply vacuum to vacuum shut off valve (use hand pump) While holding vacuum pull the shaft out to it's normal position Car shut's off with the key and with the lever! Hope this helps some future searcher. |
