Vacuum shutoff not working

Just had a crazy thought. With the vacuum shut off issues you can have with older 123's etc how feasible is it to retrofit a manual shutoff from inside the cab like on the Pontons and Heckflossen? Perhaps even using some of those components. Crazy or doable?

I've been dealing with old MB's for over a decade now. some over 35 years old... none have any issues that can't be dealt with by fixing the leaks, or plugging systems that are not important that are leaking vacuum...
if it's not leaking vacuum, and the shut off is not working, it's an oil leak that needs to be taken care of, or a vacuum pump that needs repairing/replacing...

It'd be easier to run a vacuum hose directly from the shut off into the cabin where you could suck on it.

...or just divert the fuel line inside the cabin and add on a great big tap - just think you could really impress passengers with one of these =>

There's an idea. Maybe hooking it up to a Mighty Vac would be the way to do it

ahh but you can at Home Depot

I've been tinkering with mine ever since I lost my keys way back when. I've built a "flip a switch" start system and the vacuum was a big issue until I realized I needed one of these(I think this was what I got, but it's the idea that is at hand) from Home Depot:
Watts 1/4 in. Brass Compression Angle Needle Valve

What I did was attach the black MB hoses to each end of the HD needle valve, both of which have a brass nipple that is semi-airtight, and made sure it was air tight by putting a sealant where the hose nipples and hoses meet the fitting. That part is important. Now all I have to do is close it, one half turn or so, when I want to start/run it and open it, back the same half turn, when I want to stop. This mimics the MB part and what it does when engaged or not engaged. When the car is running or starting, the MB ignition vacuum, which is simply pushed in by the keys movement, blocks air from flowing through. When one turns off their car, the button pops back out and air can flow between the hoses and the car shuts off. At least that's what I realized in my tests.

If you think I'm crazy, and yes I am, test the part out yourself. Blow in one of the holes when the button is pushed in(i.e. when the ignition is on) and blow on one when the button is released. There probably is a better way to rig it, but this works just fine and cost me 7.87 and got me to flip a switch starting. I got rid of my whole ignition system from the key insert down until I connected the wires. No more damn keys, no steering lock, and no more interior ignition issues. I put a clock where the key once went and if some thief can figure out how to start it, god bless them.

P.S. To any thief, I live in Rural China and my car is polka dot pink.
