Quick question, quick answer please

i need to know the diameter of the gauges in the cluster on my w123.

left side with the tank, oil, temp or the right side with the old school huge clock.

does some one have one laying around to put a ruler on or can someone recall the size??

Thnaks

Come on.. Nobody can oblige me with a quick answer to this?

Gonna make me have to pull the cluster so I can get an accurate measurement?

if I was at home I could... I'm at work. sorry. My GUESS is 4" but it's not round. do you want the size of the opening in the cluster or the outer diameter of the gauge set?

It's not round?

the "round looking" opening in the cluster for the huge clock. right of the speedo is the size i need to know.

doing away with the giant non working clock and replacing it with an LCD screen

I thought you wanted the LEFT side and the RIGHT side. Couldn't image what you might be putting in each side. It seems to me like it might be easier to find a working clock.

Just my $0.02

It looks like the left side = the right side to me. both smaller than the middle. so thats why i said left or right side. looks like about 3.5 inches from the front, through the clear front. but it's impossible to get a good measurement with it in the dash.

so thats what i'm looking for... the size of the opening in the cluster right of the speedo that currently houses the big clock. gonna be replacing the clock with modern instrumentation.

i'm at my desk right now. no time to go out and pull the cluster to make accurate measurements and i want to order the parts that i need for this custom installation.

i figured somebody might have one just laying around or in a heap somewhere that they could put a ruler on for me.

Thanks

and sorry, I did not make it over to my shop today, I've got dozens of clusters sitting on a shelf... not near me though.
I'll get to it soon if nobody beats me to it.

As best as I can read with a tape-measure, the clock-hole on my 'spare' W123 300TD cluster housing measures 3&3/8" or 87mm.

Happy Motoring, Mark

Just pulled a spare cluster lying in the basement, and removed the clock...diameter of the clock face is EXACTLY 3.5 inches, not including the 3 "ears" for the face mounting screws.
