Modified 1987 Mercedes Benz 300TD Wagon

"This "murdered out" (flat black custom paint with smoked lights) and fully tricked out 1987 Mercedes 300 TD Wagon with a newly rebuilt engine w/120,000 miles is the ultimate vintage wagon. In other words, this ride turns heads. The car can run as a "frybrid" on 75/25 Waste Veg Oil to diesel (55 gal "service station" included) or just as a very high mpg diesel.

The interior and exterior are spotless, and the Alpine system is Bluetooth connected and iPhone charge/connected. There is a very roomy back section with jump seats which fold down for pure storage. As you can see below, virtually everthing on the car has been rebuilt or replaced and is brand-spanking new. I'm also including towers and a heavy duty Thule cargo basket, and a $1300 Greasecar dual tank conversion kit should you decide to convert to full WVO. This car has over $18,000 invested in it, as well as a lot of love and hard work. Asking only$ 9900!! Call 614-284-3715 with any inquiries.

Features:
- Alpine sound system with Bluetooth connectivity
- Sunroof
- Power windows/locks
- Flat black paint job
- Tinted windows and darkened tail lights
- Replaced engine with lower milage engine (120,000 miles)
- Rebuilt injection pump
- New front struts and shocks
- Rear hydraulic accumulators replaced
- New radiator
- New tires, breaks and battery"

- - - - - -

I am not sure if it the price, the ugly blackout or the WVO conversion that makes me want to puke...

Delibes 02-17-2013 09:33 PM

Sixto's wagon... hm, not a bad color combo. I think that 60% of the asking price is because of the license plate. Take a look at it: "87300TD", in California. Many people would KILL for that!

They added the “D” on the end. California is 7 characters.

Side note...I think its pretty stupid to put the model designation as a license plate. It says it literally a foot and half away...

WOW! I sit corrected. You learn something new everyday! I thought the seller was mistaken and put 1985 instead of 1995.

eatont9999 02-19-2013 07:23 PM

I agree, some of the cars listed are not bad deals at all. LOL

I would rather see a MB Diesel engine in a Jeep than see it crushed for scrap. It really belongs in a MB chassis but sometimes they rust away or get hit by other cars and you can't save them.

One thing that gets my drawers in a bunch is seeing people all over CL trying to get $3k for a POS that needs $6K worth of work done. Yet, I go to PNP and see almost mint condition cars sitting there and the only thing wrong is something like a head gasket or similar issue. I guess people now days are so used to throwing things out and buying new that they can somehow justify the $1500 to replace the head gasket going into some new car with $300+/mo payments for the next 5 years. Not to mention the additional taxes and dealer fees. The same thing will happen in less than 10 years when something major breaks on the new car. Back to dealer for another new car.

Silber Adler 02-19-2013 08:23 PM

My sister took her car in for service. A week later she was looking under it and saw oil leaking. Yep you guessed it, she went out and bought a new car.....:) Probably someone didn't do their job on the service and she sheep went out for the slaughter again.

Well, if she took it to Jiffy Lube, then she probably made a good choice since the chances are greater than not that they left the oil filler cap off/forgot to put oil back in it. LOL

Hm, if it is period correct, it could be worth some money!

Regarding the 78 SD, I can appreciate the custom rear wing ( It might even increase fuel mileage.), but not the paregoric green color. I am not into bile.

Slammed Classy 1974 Mercedes 240D - $4500 (Bremen)

* Forgot to mention that I have about $25,000 worth of maintenance and documentation dating back to the early eighties
* Both CV joints and boots in the rear are newer
* The rear suspension has been modified some as of Jan 22nd.
This is a feeler only. I do not have to sell or trade. this is my beautiful 1974 240D and runs flawlessly. working heat, AC, PS, defrost, everything in this vehicle works. Just did oil change around 780 miles ago. good brakes, It is slammed. It is not on cut springs, so the ride is more comfortable than any car I have ever owned. Original paint. painted hub caps really make the car stand out. this car has a newer motor and tranny in it (have receipts). This car gets looks wherever I go. you wont believe this unless you see it. Interior was re-done about 20 years ago. new exhaust, This has a CLEAN TITLE. feel free to call or text anytime. (405-245-2419)

I am looking for cash (it is king you know) and certain trades. I will entertain trade offers on Euro cars and old JDM (datsun, nissan, toyota) mainly bmw or other mercedes. or audi. I would love a BMW 2002 or a e21 or e28. I will entertain all offers though. thank you

Nothing $3000.00 can't fix.

As is, I would offer $1000.00 USD.

FYI: Slamming, chopping, dropping, tubbing, etc, reduces vehicle value in 99.9% of cases. If the mods are too extreme, the vehicle becomes scrap metal.

Exactly my reasoning. Some people obviously like these mods, because they spend the money on them. But most of us, I would say, enjoy them just as they rolled out of the factory.

where in the world does that figure come from? it should be $40 total for all four stock springs at lkq, then sell the sport springs for profit. ;)

The price is right for scrap, but it is what it is: scrap. Interior destroyed, rusty, run on WVO... but hey, you can make your money back out of the tail-lights and the wheels. If it happens to run, well, it may actually allow for the widest grin to ever grace a human face!

1979 diesel 300td Mb with grease kit

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So, I have a 1979 diesel Mercedes Benz 300TD station wagon. It has a plantdrive grease kit installed in it (that is currently disconnected, and may need a new part or two, or a good cleaning) I haven't run it on grease in about 3 years so I cannot guarantee it would work! Someone may want this car to fix up OR even just to take the grease kit out of it. I cannot promise anything with it though!
The car has issues... but if you know much about cars, they may mostly be very easy fixes, not sure! Car was getting by fine until the lights stopped and I couldn't afford to deal with it.

1.) Car is not starting right now, but may just need a new battery as I have not driven it in a while.
2.) Gas pedal sticks. scary, but if you stick your foot under it, it stops :)
3.) floor in the back left gets filled with water everytime it rains. may just be a leaky door seal?
4.) Blinkers and brake lights are NOT working.
5.) car is starting to mold due to not being driven
6.) some rust
7.) odometer has been broken since I owned it so don't ask how many miles are on it. i have no idea, but I do know the previous owner took great care of it. I have been failing at that for a while now though :(

I'd love to see someone make this car work again because when it runs on grease it is practically free to drive, and just needs a little love, I think.
It is also not registered or insured so the car could not be driven away from here. I have the title but it is not printed in my name, just signed over, so hopefully that would not be an issue!
more pictures upon request!

asking $500
thanks for your interest!

My dad had an identical one. Sold it in 83 or so. Engine blew up a week later.

Those 5.7s are notoriously bad with head gaskets, heads, rods, etc. The 5.7 was GM's worst Diesel engine ever made. The 6.2s were reliable but still lack power (at least in a truck). The price is not too bad since the car is in great condition. The engine can be improved and would be worth it since they are so rare. I would probably go down to $1800-2k, though, providing the car is in as good of condition as it looks. The engine does need to be pulled for reinforcement and upgrades, though.

I have the title but it is not printed in my name, just signed over, so hopefully that would not be an issue!
more pictures upon request!

asking $500
thanks for your interest!

such memories... rode in my dad's 79 caprice classic wagon until it died in 83... transmission R and OD burned up.
he bought it to tow a 24'Prowler across country... methinks it was a tad too much for the vehicle...
we went through 2 oil pump drives, 7 sets of head bolts, and gaskets, etc... I didn't know engines could have amber oil until I was 16...

I actually bought an 81 5.7 cc wagon for a touring vehicle until it was rearended by a drunk... hit and run, it kept going for a while after that... until the motor blew... crushed her for $50...
