Hard up shift and down shift

Ever since I replaced the injectors on my 1984 300D with knowed good running set from a 1985 300SD. The transmission now shift hard, like being in "N" on high rpm and popping it in drive hard shifting. Down shifting is the same, as I approach a light to stop it feels like someone rear ended me. Any suggestion where to start looking.

vacuum lines. the black hard vacuum line from the driver's side of the transmission goes to the VCV valve on top of the IP. there is a green vacuum reducer in there too. if the vacuum lines got knocked free from the circuit, you will have hard shifts.

on the Injectors, did you replace the heat shields?

Thank you, I will check the vacuum line and the reducer.

Now as far as the heat sheild, I am doing alot of thinking here, meaning I am not aware of the heat shield. I removed them from the 85 and just re-installed them on the 84. Do you have a photo what it looks like?

they fit under the tip of the injectors, and they are NOT reusable. they must be replaced each time, or you will loose compression, and soot will damage the injector bodies.

if you click the mercedes link at the top of the page, and select your car, then choose fuel and intake, then choose fuel injectors, then scroll down a bit, you will see them.
note: the pic above is the side that faces the pistons, not the injectors. the side with the ring on it faces the injectors.

As far, as the heat shield. What kind of performance sign from the lost of compression? The car runs nice, I am going to order the shield so when the newly re-built injectors come in I can replace them.

X2 on vacuum.

I knocked a vacuum line off recently w/o realizing I had done so. It shifted like a dump truck....till I put 2 & 2 together, opened the hood, reconnected and viola, back to velvet shifting!!
