Warning lights on '85 300TD

Greetings. Most all of the time I have owned this car (@10 yrs, has 155k), the brake and battery warning lights would often stay lit right after starting, but then would go out once (and stay off) the RPMs increased. Now they are staying on all the time while the car is running. I thought it used to be fault of the worn ignition switch, but not sure that is the issue here. I have not sprayed the ign switch with WD-40 or graphite yet.

I do not believe that the brake pads are worn too far and the brake fluid is between MAX and MIN levels.

I do not believe that the alternator is bad, but guess I could have that checked out.

Seems pretty odd that both of these problems would surface at the same time, in light of these indicator lights that had been lighting and going off as a tandem for quite some time.

Anybody have any thoughts? Appreciate the help here as always!
