I was thinking about something similar to the oval black-on-white country-of-origin stickers you see in europe?

Lightbulb Sticker Design Entry!

I had posted this in the original thread but offer it here also for anyone to opine!
How about something like this : simple , cryptic and easily recognizable by those in the know!! Its' crude now but someone with some expertise and talent could straighten things out!

This was an explination of my design thought for clarifications sake.

Oel !!!
Yes if I remember correctly somewhere I recell seeing a reference to either Damlier's or Diesel's original German patents where the title was "Oel Motor" pehaps with a oomlof or two! I haven't been able to find it again so I can't vouch for the historical accuracy of my interpetation. But that where I got that part of the idea from.

Obviously the MB represents Mercedes Benz and is my small but tasteful and understated surrender to the snobbery and exclusivity of the breed!

I was thinking about what someone said earlier in the thread about being able to recognize similar folk while driving and thats why I thought that a simple relativly easily spotted and recognized design would be better. I know that I see every MB on the road now and I figured if your tooling along on the highway you don't have time to really read anything even if you could see it. When your cruising along and you find yourself in a wagon train of MB till the next rest stop, exit, or diesel fill station you'll know it must be the Sticker! And then again if someone where up close to a car the "Oel Motor" and "mercedeshop.com" would get some attention and spark some curiosity and maybe conversation.

My original thought was an oval similar to the counrty of origin stickers but a circle might be just different enough to make it more recognisable. I thought that the "mercedesshop.com" could wrap around either above or below the "D" in smaller lettering so someone walking by would have no problem reading it, but I think if you make it large enough to read on a moving car it would have to be much larger if bumper stickers and my eyesight are any indication!

But I just thought I throw my ideas out there and stimulate some disscussion whatever the design ends up being I'll be happy to wear it!

The oval "European" stickers are being overdone to death. They are the new Pissing Calvin (for non-meatheads anyway); I see them everywhere. Let's do something original. I like billybob's oel idea, only it has too much text. The sticker should be graphic (without being flashy) with a small amount of text.

Keep the ideas flowing!

Hey, that's fine, it was just an idea. I'm REALLY sick of the liberties being taken with Calvin and Hobbes myself.

I stand by my slogan put on the earlier posting: Spark-Free Since 1892! (a reference to the year Dr. Rudolf Diesel patented his engine)

Alex, this may be too "graphic" for your printers, but I can tone it down a bit...

I dunno Bill, I think the "Spark Free since 1892" was a pretty good one, only educated Diesel owners would actually understand what that ment
