Looking for help with an Output Flange.
Hello all--
I am looking for someone more knowledgeable than I am to bail me out of a problem. I have a 1987 190D (non-turbo). I bought the car used (well used) and the speedometer cable was sheared off in the transmission fitting. To extract this I took the driveline and output flange off of the transmission. I noticed the flex disk was in rough shape so I ordered another one. I got the new speedometer cable back in, but when I went to hook the driveline back together I noticed the new flex disk did not mate with the output flange. It mates fine with the driveline. I am not sure how the old flex disk was working, but I think possibly the previous owner drilled some "slop" into the flex disk grommets and put it back together. Not a long term solution, but good enough to put the car up for sale. I have learned that some flex disks have the bolt hole centers 40mm from the disk center and some are at 45mm. My driveline is 40mm and the flange is 45mm. I am currently thinking my easiest solution is to get a 40mm flange, since I think that is the original size for this car. I don't know if the 40mm and 45mm output flanges are splined the same. Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have been banging my head against the wall on this one! I can't even get the epc program to work. Jared. |

While you are down there you might want to get the Transmission Number and see if is the original model of Transmission that came with the Car.

Bumpin--
I wasn't able to find the transmission number, but I'm not sure it matters. The transmission works fine,I just need a connection between it and the flex disk. I can't get into EPC because it won't recognize my credit card. Can anybody find the part number for an output flange? [1987 190d non-turbo] Thanks for looking. |

I do not understand your problem without a picture. I had issue with the vibration damper/flex disk on a 1984 190D. I removed the vibration damper and bolted the flex disk in. Hope this help.

Thanks for the info Jet, it does help!
I can't find that part number at pelican parts, but they do list 202-272-00-45-MBZ as the correct part. I think my next step is to contact them and see if the flange matches my flex disk. |
