What is the correct name / part # for fender trim pieces

Howdy,

Back to typing and tinkering ever so slightly.

I am looking to buy the red / redish plastic pieces which holds the fender molding. I am thinking they are the same molding clips for the door and quarter panel molding. They look like red pieces of plastic. I see them here and there, for about $10 for 10. However, I found 50 for under $5.00. Is this the same item ?Moulding Insert Red Nylon

You won't know if they'll fit till you try them out. 50 for $5? Go for it and let us know if it fits. Mercedes probably want $1 ea!

Greazzer-
If you give tell me what car you are talking about and as much detail about the part as possible, I am happy to poke around EPC for you.

The part number referenced in that link you provided is referred to as "Grommet" by EPC. Within the MB parts catalog, it is referred to as "Rocker Molding Fastener" and goes by two parts numbers...0009881581 and 0019887681. They cost $2.50 from the dealer.

The part number that Sleepstar provided is referred to as "Fastener Button" by EPC. Within the MB parts catalog, it is referred frequently as the "Scuff Plate Nut" and "Body Side Molding Fastener." It also went by part 0019882081 and 0089770381. It also costs $2.50.

I don't know if these are actually all the same part.

The car is a W123 chassis application. I am getting the front clip painted on my DD, which was Jay Bob's old ride. I doing this now since I really dont need a car for another week or 2. The molding is coming off and I bet I will need new ones. The red plastic fastners are for the fenders, doors, and quarters. I totally whimped out and got the ones from Autohauz for .25 a piece. I ordered 20. I am thinking the ones for under $5 bucks a bag are the same. If I ever paint the entire car, I will gamble and buy a bag of 50. I am thinking the car takes 52, so I will have a few left over from my order of 20 and with the bag of 50, I will be good to go.

The ones that attach the Trim at the Bottom of the Doors, fender and lower rear look like the below pic.

Ones I recieved from ebay; 000 990 21 92 Mercedes W123 300D 300CD 300TD Rocker Panel Moulding Retainer Set of 10 GENUINE.

I have not used them yet as I am still dealing with the Rust Holes but the look the same when compared to the Old ones.

I have not pulled the one off the Bottom of the front Fender yet so I don't know if they are the same there. But, the 3 moulding strips to the rear have been pulled off.

The red nylon one pictured in the link above isn't exactly like the OE.

I bought this type off ebay:
65 80 Mercedes 108 109 114 115 116 Side Trim Clips 65pc | eBay

This vendor says they fit up to w116 but I think that is incomplete info on his part. The part number matches up with one of them quoted in this thread.
